Re: Bad Smell on grape juice/wine

I don't think it was the plastic bottle. Did the grape juice have any additives?

Re: Slow Fermenting?

Yes, sorry I did boil about 1.25tbsps, or so, of pelletized hops, tied in a coffee filter. For 25 mins You didn't say what kind of hops, but I would have added 2 heaping tbsps. of hops for 4 liters. Then again, I love hops. It sounds like your beverage is done fermenting, but without a hydrometer r...

Re: Slow Fermenting?

I'm using the EZ Cap yeast that came with my kit. I did see at least 1 recipe that said like 3 days, but why do most I have seen talk about 2 weeks? (including the youtube recipe I followed). Also, the fermentation for grain sugars looks different than fruit sugars. Sometimes I brew beer and the fermentation appears to be going slowly but in reality, someti...

Re: Clarification

Re: Coconut?

I've tasted coconut palm wine before. This had a slightly sweet flavour and was a cloudy, translucent white, colour. This was in the Congo (DRC), and was much prized by the locals. I'm not sure if it is possible to make wine from coconut flesh. In all the countries I know, where they drink palm win...
