Re: Wine tastes like crap!

If the sugar was used up within 10 days time, should I increase the amount when I bottle it? You said the sour taste was from the used up sugars. I used 2 cups on my 1st bottle, the next 3 have 1 Cup, and the last 2 1 1/2 cups. Just trying to get a set recipe without sourness and plenty of alcohol :...

Re: Wine tastes like crap!

Thanks. I noticed that one bottle that was very dry is now sweetening back up as its chilling. New learning experience for me. ;)

Re: Wine tastes like crap!

Sorry to sound mean, but they have been in the fridge for two days and no clarification. As I mentioned in another post , I did everything correctly in the instructions. I was wondering if there some issues with the yeast. One thing that I did was put 1/4 Tsp. of yeast in the bottles. The wine that ...

Wine tastes like crap!

I've let my Wines and Cider ferment for about 10 days. Maybe I'm rushing to judgement, but not happy with the results.Drank 15 ces of my wine's. No results. Is my yeast bad? There was no "SEAL" on it.

Re: Adding More sugar to wine

Its in the fridge. I tried it again today and I could sense the alcohol. Thanks. I will remember all this. ;) The 1st bottle I referred to has a medley of juices. Maybe takes longer to ferment. Thx!! 8-)

Re: Adding More sugar to wine

Actually not sweet at all. Has kind of tannic taste on the back of the tongue. And a slight sour taste.

Re: Adding More sugar to wine

Yes, very fizzy. I also tasted them unclarified. The bottles are rock solid and fermenting. I notice that the yeast is on the bottom of the bottles. I'm wondering if certain types of fruit juice may take longer to ferment. Some are blended with Pomegranate, Black Cherry and Blueberry juices. I used ...

Adding More sugar to wine

I started my 1st bottle on 9/29, and 3 bottles on 10/3. I sampled the 1st bottle 2 days ago, very dry, and cannot notice any alcohol. I tried my Apple Cider I started on 10/3 this morning, same results. The 1st bottle had 2 cups of sugar and the Cider was made with 1 Cup sugar. Just want to know if ...

Re: Pasteurized Juice

Thanks. Yes, it does have apple juice blended in it.The bottle says no sugar added. I already prepared it on the 29th. and its going to work with the fermentation. I did use 1 1/2 cups sugar, and I will let it go for about 10-12 days before I sample it. I really do not like sweet wine, so this will ...
